Oakland Avenue Construction

The Village of Shorewood is reconstructing Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue. Construction began in February and will be completed in December 2026.

Week of Monday, May 4, 2026

Individual water service connections to the new water main are continuing
- Water connection crews are working on the east side of Oakland Avenue, starting at Capitol Drive, working north
- Sidewalk closures are expected where crews are connecting individual water services
- Detours will be posted for sidewalk closures

Long-Term Closures

Access to the crosswalk at the northeast corner of Oakland Avenue at Elmdale Court is closed due to water service work.

Access to the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection will be maintained

Access to and from Oakland Avenue from the east is closed until mid-summer at:

Kenmore Place
Jarvis Street
Wood Place
Olive Street
Marion Street
Lake Bluff Boulevard
Kensington Boulevard
Glendale Avenue
