Oakland Avenue Reconstruction

The Village of Shorewood is reconstructing Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue. Construction began in February and will be completed in December 2026.

Traffic Impacts

Week of February 16

Northbound and southbound traffic remains shifted to the west side of Oakland Avenue.

Beginning Wednesday, February 18, the crosswalk on the north side of the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Capitol Drive (northwest corner to northeast corner) is scheduled to close long-term for watermain reconstruction.

Intermittent pedestrian crosswalks across Oakland Avenue at Elmdale Court are scheduled to have short-term closures for watermain and service replacement work. One crosswalk will remain open at all times.

Equipment and materials are scheduled to be delivered and stored in the closed east side lanes of Oakland Avenue.

Parking on Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue is prohibited. Vehicles parked on Oakland Avenue are subject to citation and towing.  

Long-Term Closures

Access to and from Oakland Avenue from the east is closed until mid-summer at:

  • Kenmore Place
  • Jarvis Street
  • Wood Place
  • Olive Street
  • Marion Street
  • Lake Bluff Boulevard
  • Kensington Boulevard
