Oakland Avenue Reconstruction

The Village of Shorewood is reconstructing Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue. Construction began in February and will be completed in December 2026.

Week of Monday, May 25, 2026

Individual water service line connections to the new water main are scheduled at locations within the 4400 and 4500 blocks of Oakland Avenue.  

  • The water service contractor is coordinating with affected residents and businesses to schedule times to complete this work

Segments of Oakland Avenue may be reduced to a single lane of bidirectional traffic when necessary while crews complete water service connections on the west side of the street.

  • Flaggers will direct traffic during this work

Note: Reconstruction work on Oakland Avenue is scheduled to pause between 6 p.m. Friday, May 22, and 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.

Long-Term Closures

Access to and from Oakland Avenue from the east is closed until mid-summer at:

  • Kenmore Place
  • Jarvis Street
  • Wood Place
  • Olive Street
  • Marion Street
  • Lake Bluff Boulevard
  • Kensington Boulevard
  • Glendale Avenue
