Oakland Avenue Reconstruction

The Village of Shorewood is reconstructing Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue. Construction began in February and will be completed in December 2026.

Traffic and Utility Impacts

Week of August 24, 2026

Traffic on Oakland Avenue has shifted to the east side.

Northbound and southbound traffic on Oakland Avenue is open between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue.

There is no parking on Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue. Parked vehicles on Oakland Avenue are subject to citation and towing.  

Motorists can cross Oakland Avenue at Kenmore Place, Lake Bluff Boulevard, and Glendale Avenue.

Milwaukee County Transit GreenLine Service will resume normal route operations on Oakland Avenue. For route updates, see www.ridemcts.com/alerts.

Long-Term Closures

Access to and from Oakland Avenue, Wood Place, Olive Street, Marion Street, and Kensington Boulevard west of Oakland Avenue is closed until mid-Fall for roadway reconstruction.
