Oakland Avenue Reconstruction

Week of October 19, 2026

Crews are scheduled to complete paving of parking lanes and intersections and sidewalk repairs on the west side of Oakland Avenue.  

• NOTE: Evening and overnight expansion/contraction joint sawing is expected following the paving of the parking lane and intersections. Noise is associated with this work. Crews take steps to minimize these effects
• Areas of sidewalk disturbed during utility work, water service line installation, or that have heaved over time will be replaced
• Pedestrians should expect areas of sidewalk closures on the west side of Oakland Avenue while crews complete this work
• At least one east-west pedestrian crossing of Oakland Avenue will be maintained at Capitol Drive, Kenmore Place, Jarvis Street, Lake Bluff Boulevard, and Glendale Avenue except while crews remove pavement and backfill with gravel and mats at curb ramps

Daytime joint-paving operations are scheduled on the west side of Oakland Avenue.  

• Noise and dust are associated with this work as crews clean the expansion and contraction joints. Steps are taken to minimize these effects

Crews are scheduled to mill and pave side-street connections west of Oakland Avenue.

Pavement marking operations are planned for mid-week.  

Crews are scheduled to shift northbound and southbound traffic to their permanent travel lanes on Thursday, October 23.  

• The parking lanes on both sides of Oakland Avenue will remain closed as crews complete sidewalk repairs and curb extensions on the east side of Oakland Avenue and begin landscape restoration on both sides of the street
• Glendale Avenue east of Oakland Avenue is scheduled to close for curb ramp and pavement replacement

Overnight/Weekend Work

Evening and overnight expansion/contraction joint sawing is expected after parking lane and intersection paving operations.  

Long-Term Closures

• Wood Place, Olive Street, Marion Street, Kensington Boulevard, and Glendale Avenue west of Oakland Avenue remain closed through mid-fall for roadway reconstruction.
